Kells Road Race

Directions to the Crossakiel Circuit

From Belfast

Satellite Navigation may take slight different routes but I have tried to find the simplest way possible.

From both airport and ferryport it is very easy to find the M1. follow signs for South and Dublin

Leave the M1 at junction 8 onto A1 still marked for South

The A1 changes into the N1 and then changes to M1 again.

This is a new Motorway as were now on the other side of the border.

We start on the M1 at junction 18 we need to follow it down to junction 14

At junction 14 we follow the signs - N33 towards Ardee

When we reach Ardee turn left onto N2 towards Slane this is a very short section of our journey through the town of Ardee

Watch out for the two castles on the left we will turn right at the second castle onto the N52 towards Mullingar

We follow the N52 for approximately 15 miles when we get closer to Kells there are several roundabouts and a staggered cross roads to navigate. The important thing to remember is just follow the N52 until we get to a roundabout that has signs for the N3 we need to join the N3 not the motorway

Once on the N3 the next roundabout takes us towards Crossakiel on the R163

Follow the R163 for 2.5 miles. The road appears to fork. However there is a left turn here and you’re now heading into Crossakiel

The next right is Crossakiel heights where the entrance to the paddock is found on your left.

From Dublin

From the Airport follow the signs onto the M50 south, leave M50 at junction 6 onto the N3 towards Navan

From the docks follow the signs onto M50 through the Dublin Port Tunnel. There are tolls on this road – leave M50 at junction 6 onto the N3 towards Navan

The N3 changes onto the M3 and there are 2 sets of tolls on this route

The M3 ends at a roundabout where the road continues as the N3.  Once on the N3 the next roundabout takes us towards Crossakiel on the R163

Follow the R163 for 2.5 miles. The road appears to fork. However there is a left turn here and you’re now heading into Crossakiel

The next right is Crossakiel heights where the entrance to the paddock is on your left.

The organisers of the event have generously put out very good signage to help people find the road races, these are mostly red arrows or the words road races at the junctions. When you reach the fork in the road if you miss the left turn I mentioned don’t worry. You’re on the circuit now and if you turn left at the next junction this brings us back to the paddocks.

Depending on the time of day and type of vehicle the toll charges could amount to 13 Euro each dircection. These toll charges can be payed electronically or by cash. Obviously toll roads can be avoided but in most cases add to lengthy journey times and fuel costs and if you get lost just adds frustration. Toll Rates for dublin tunnel, Toll Rates for the M3 Remember there are two tolls on the M3
